Parents and Community

Engaged partnerships between schools and the broader community are a cornerstone of quality education. These partnerships depend on educators who respect the resources the community offers and seek to harness these resources to advance student learning.

Different people and groups from the community can contribute to and support the school library media center in a variety of ways. Become informed about who can offer what kind of help- whether they are parents, teachers, school board members, alumni, or neighbors. Cultivating the suggestions and support of these individuals can help your library media center grow and develop in ways it couldn’t have done alone and goes a long way toward sustaining community engagement over time.
