Lancaster Foundation for Educational Enrichment (LFEE) and its community partners are working to create family resource centers in a cluster of Lancaster elementary schools. In the initial three-year period, the targeted schools are Title I schools that have been funded as 21st Century Schools for the 2001–2002 school year. Ultimately, LFEE and its partners plan to expand the family resource center model to each neighborhood cluster in the school district within five years. The family resource centers will share the following characteristics:

Focused, collaborative efforts between providers and schools

Recruitment and training of volunteers

Health and social services providers onsite

Opportunities for parent education

Comprehensive after-school, weekend, and summer activities
