The long-term vision of the Paterson Education Fund (PEF) is that no child will fail because the schools and the community did not work together to lower barriers to success. Paterson plans to implement the School Linked Services model in existing schools, while also planning to implement a Community School model in newly constructed schools. PEF will work with the community to strengthen the linkage between schools and community, and to create a coordinated, comprehensive set of programs and support for high academic and social outcomes for every Paterson public school child. Paterson Education Fund expects to achieve the following outcomes:

Increase civic capacity through public dialogue, group advocacy, and group action

Strengthen links between community-based organizations and Paterson’s poorest performing schools

Increase access to services in the five core areas of the Community School model

Implement the Community School model in 11 newly constructed schools

Work with the Hispanic/Latino community to implement a training curriculum focused on community engagement around the topics of HIV/AIDS education, children’s health insurance, and access to children’s health services.
